The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) is skating into the spotlight with the 2019 Canalta Cup championship series being broadcast on SaskTel.

The games will available live and on demand on SaskTel maxTV and maxTV Stream channels 49 and 349.

The broadcast crew for the series will include SJHL Central hosts Rod Pederson and Darren Dupont along with Amand Ruller providing on-ice interviews.

The Canalta Cup series broadcasts are part of an agreement signed in January 2019 between the SJHL and SaskTel. In addition to the Canalta Cup broadcasts, the agreement featured coverage of the SJHL/MJHL Showcase at the Co-operators Centre in Regina on Jan. 14 and 15 along with a game of the month through the remainder of the regular season.

Bill Chow, President of the SJHL, stated “we have created a great opportunity to expose the athletes of the SJHL to scouts and to hockey fans across this province.”

The broadcast schedule for the Canalta Cup will be released once the two finalists are determined.

The semifnal matchups are set, pitting the Battlefords North Stars against the Yorkton Terriers and the Estevan Bruins against the Melfort Mustangs with the winners advancing to the Canalta Cup championship series.
