SOURCE EMBROIDERY POWER RANKINGS (Jan 30)

By Mike Stackhouse

1-NIPAWIN HAWKS 34-5-2-3 (1)
No regulation losses in 25 games, which is a modern day record.  At least over the last 15 years.  Maybe more.

2-BATTLEFORDS NORTH STARS 32-8-2-0 (2)
Even the defending champs can’t beat the Hawks.  Actually, two losses this past week constitutes a slump for them.

3-MELFORT MUSTANGS 29-9-4-1 (3)
Winners of 8 of their last 10 and locked in to that 4 seed for the first round of the playoffs.

4-HUMBOLDT BRONCOS 25-15-3-2 (4)
Back to back wins over the weekend and showing an explosive offense to go with consistent goaltending.

5-ESTEVAN BRUINS 25-15-3-1 (5)
For whatever reason, they struggle against Yorkton, losing four of their eight games against them.  Otherwise, they’ve been playing fairly well.

6-NOTRE DAME HOUNDS 24-16-1-3 (6)
It’s been a struggle since the Christmas break; but it can also be argued the 6 seed is a better position than the 5 seed come playoff time.

7-WEYBURN RED WINGS 23-16-4-0 (7)
Despite a recent slide, they are only four points behind Estevan for first in the Viterra.  They also have a game in hand.

8-KINDERSLEY KLIPPERS 18-17-3-2 (9)
Two point lead on Flin Flon with three games in hand as the two teams look to be jostling for home ice advantage in their Survivor Series match up.

9-FLIN FLON BOMBERS 16-20-3-4 (8)
Decent road trip with a shootout loss in Melville, a shootout win in Yorkton, and then a defeat at Humboldt to finish it off.

10-MELVILLE MILLIONAIRES 15-26-0-2 (10)
Two impressive victories this weekend to end a five game skid. They trail Flin Flon by seven points to get into the 9th seed.

11-YORKTON TERRIERS 9-29-2-2 (12)
Another win against Estevan and a pulled goalie away from beating Flin Flon.  The effort is there for Mat Hehr.

12-LA RONGE ICE WOLVES 8-33-0-2 (11)
Losers of four straight and now four points behind Yorkton as the two clubs have been moving back and forth with both very likely to miss playoffs.
