Stars Bounce Back in Melville

Their unbeaten start to the season ended Tuesday night in Yorkton, but the Battlefords North Stars didn’t waste much time getting back on track, coming away with a 6-1 win in Melville, 24 hours later on Wednesday.

Elijah Loon-Stewardson had one goal on the season coming into action Wednesday, and racked up a hat trick to lead the charge. Defenseman Dylan McCabe added a goal and two assists, while Rylan Nivon and Ryland McNinch also scored. Austin Schwab made 18/19 saves in the win.

The Stars (8-1-0-0) led 1-0 with less than three minutes left in the first period before scoring three times before the period was up, taking a 4-0 lead into the break. They out-shot Melville 43-19 inlcuding 21-2 in the second period.

Max McPeak scored for the Millionaires (2-3-2-1) and Hunter Adams came off the bench and made 29/31 saves over the final forty minutes.

The North Stars have Thursday off, and play the back half of their four game trip in Estevan and Weyburn this Friday and Saturday.
