Bombers & Ice Wolves Heading Home After Four Game Trips

The Flin Flon Bombers and La Ronge Ice Wolves both capped off four game, five night road trips on Sunday.

The Bombers were nearly perfect on the swing, taking seven of a possible eight points, starting off with a shootout loss in Humboldt on Wednesday, before rattling off wins in Notre Dame, Weyburn, and then 6-2 over the Estevan Bruins on Sunday.

Chrystopher Collin led the way with a goal and two assists.  Dawson McKenzie (1g-1a), Daylan Marchi, Brandson Hein, Nate Hooper and Billy Klymchuk picked up the other goals for Flin Flon (8-4-0-2).  It was Hein’s league-leading 13th goal and 26th point.  Jacob Delorme made 36/38 saves for his first win in the SJHL.

Tristyn DeRoose had a goal and an assist for the Bruins (5-7-0-0), giving him six points (2g-4a) in his last two games.  Eddie Gallagher added a third period goal.

La Ronge won the first two games of their trip, but dropped the last two, falling 4-1 in Notre Dame on Sunday.

The Hounds (5-7-0-0) are right back in the thick of the competitive Global Ag Risk Solutions Division after back to back wins and four in their last five outings.

The Ice Wolves (4-8-0-0) did get on the board first, as Dylan Thackeray found the net at 6:46 of the second period.  Noah Bankowski tied things up for the Hounds seven minutes later, and they added three more in the third, courtesy Curtis Wiebe, Tim Gould and Sho Takai.

Riley Kohonick picked up the win making 17/18 saves.  Merek Pipes turned away 34/38 for La Ronge.
