TERRIERS DOWN BRONCOS SUNDAY

Don’t look now but the Yorkton Terriers, leaders of the Viterra Division, defeated each of the other two division leaders on the road over the weekend.  The Terriers followed up Friday’s 5-2 win in Melfort (the Mustangs led the Sherwood Division going into action Friday), with a 6-3 win in Humboldt, over the Global Ag Risk Solutions leading Broncos on Sunday afternoon.

The win has the Terriers (16-10-1-0) now alone in first, two points up on Estevan and still with six games in hand.

Jared Legien and Chantz Petruic each had a goal and two assists to lead the way offensively.  Colby Brandt (1g-1a), Cody Bruchkowski (1g-1a), Mason Mullaney and Quinten Hobbs also scored and Ryan Ouelette made 28/31 saves.  Ouelette was in goal for both victories on the weekend.

Zach McIntyre and Michael Clarke each had a goal and an assist for the Broncos (19-9-2-1).  Bryson Cecconi rounded out the scoring.

Both teams are back in action Tuesday as part of a four game schedule.  Humboldt’s in Battlefords while Yorkton welcomes Estevan in a pair of divisional games.  Elswhere Kinderlsey will head to La Ronge, with Flin Flon visiting Nipawin.
