TERRIERS MOVE ON TO QUARTERS
GAME 3 VICTORY SENDS YORKTON TO FINAL EIGHT
An explosive four goal second period led the Yorkton Terriers to a 5-4 win over the Notre Dame Hounds in the decisive third game of their Best-of-Three Wild Card series, and will move on to face the defending champion Nipawin Hawks in the SJHL Quarter-Finals.
The Hounds led 1-0 after the first period and out-shot the Terriers 16-5 in the opening twenty, and Jarrett Penner scored his second goal of the series.
The Terriers owned the middle frame, striking four times starting 59 seconds in when Cody Bruchkowski (1g-3a) started off his four point night, and four point period. Colby Brandt went on to haunt his former team, scoring twice and adding one assist. Chantz Petruic added a goal and two assists, as that line combined for four goals and 10 points, all in a 14 minute span of the second period. Branden Klatt added one more in the third and Ryan Ouellette made 43/47 saves.
20-year-old Hounds Marshall Wilton and Charles Martin had excellent Junior ‘A’ finales, each scoring and adding two assists. Kyle Robinson added his second goal of the series. The Hounds trailed 5-2 but cut it to 5-4 with just under 10 minutes remaining.
