VAN OS-SHAW LEADS BRONCOS TO ANOTHER WIN

By Craig Stein

Chris Van Os-Shaw scored four straight goals for his Humboldt Broncos on Tuesday night, and did it by time the game was roughly half done, in the Broncos’ fourth straight win, a 7-1 decision over La Ronge.

The win marked the second straight game the Broncos have scored seven, and they’ve managed four goals or more in all four during the win streak, as they improved to a league-best 8-1-0-0 on the season.

Van Os-Shaw struck first 8:49 into the game, and added his second less than 10 minutes later and Humboldt took a 2-0 lead to the locker room.  He would add two more in the second, even strength just over a minute in for the hat trick, and then a powerplay goal for good measure at 11:29, his 9th of the season in his 9th game.  He now leads the league in both goals (9, tied with Dondre Watson, FF) and points (16).

Dawson Atamanchuk added his first of the season to make it 5-0 Broncos, before Tayden Woods got La Ronge on the board late in the middle frame.  Kobe Scott (1g-1a) and Trevor Posch (1g-1a) added third period goals for the Broncos, with Van Os-Shaw assisting on Posch’s 6th of the year, giving him a five point night.

Brayden Camrud had three assists for the Broncos, and defenseman Connor Swystun added a pair.  Garrett Mason made 20/21 saves in the win.

The Ice Wolves dropped their sixth straight, and fall to 1-8-0-0.

The only other game on Tuesday saw the Battlefords North Stars pick up a 3-1 win over visiting Melfort.

The Stars (6-3-0-0) did all their damage in the second period, as Connor Logan (1g-1a), Logan Nachtegaele and Kendal Fransoo (1g-2a) scored goals just over five minutes apart early in the frame.

Joel Gryzbowski made 26/27 saves in the victory while Hunter Arps kick out 42/25 for the Mustangs.

Melfort has now lost six in a row after opening with three straight wins.  Wyatt Hinson had their only goal on Tuesday.
