WEDNESDAY RECAP: Mustangs punch ticket to final, Bombers survive

YORKTON, SK – For the second year in a row, the Melfort Mustangs will compete for the Canterra Seeds Cup.

Reilley Kotai’s penalty shot goal 9:25 into the third period stood up as the game-winner as the Mustangs outlasted the Yorkton Terriers 3-1 to earn the four-game sweep Wednesday.

Three different Mustangs found the back of the net, while Tate Schofer had Yorkton’s lone response on the night.

Meanwhile, in Weyburn, the Flin Flon Bombers needed to win to stay alive and did so with a resounding 5-1 victory over the Red Wings.

Four Bombers had multi-point outings to force a Game 5 set for Saturday.
