Wings fly back into sixth with big win

REGINA, SK – The home-and-home Highway 39 rivalry coming this weekend just got even more interesting.

Brendan Hunchak led the way with a goal and three points and five Wings counted multi-point games as Weyburn blew by Notre Dame 7-2 Wednesday in Wilcox.

Wednesday’s contest was Notre Dame’s final game of the 2023-2024 campaign, as they became the first club in the league to finish the 56-contest schedule. The Hounds finished with a record of 15-39-2-0 and a 12th-place standing.

The victory moves Weyburn two points ahead of their rival Estevan Bruins with equal numbers of games played as the two get set to do battle with each other for the sixth seed in the playoffs this Friday and Saturday.
