CALGARY, Alta. – The National Hockey League’s Central Scouting Bureau released its final rankings Thursday as a run-up to the 2022 NHL Draft and 11 players from the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) are among those listed.
The highest-ranked CJHL skater is Okotoks Oilers (AJHL) left wing, Rieger Lorenz, who was slotted in the first round, 17th overall, among North American skaters.
Next was North York Rangers (OJHL) defenceman George Faragas, who was tabbed in the third round, 82nd overall.
The fourth-round grouping featured centre Matthew Perkins of the Humboldt Broncos (SJHL) as well as blueliner Jack Sparkes from the St. Michael’s Buzzers (OJHL).
They were ranked 106th and 127th respectively.
Then came Connor McGrath of the Humboldt Broncos (SJHL) who was listed as a potential fifth found choice, 146th overall.
Earning nods in the sixth round were Zach Bookman, (D) Brooks Bandits (AJHL), Lucas Buzziol, (C) Milton Menace (OJHL), Carson Buydens, (RW) Virden Oil Capitals (MJHL) and Nicholas Wolfenberg, (D) Okotoks Oilers (AJHL) at 163rd, 166th, 167th and 191st respectively.
Then, Ty Paisley, (LW) of the Steinbach Pistons (MJHL) was tabbed in the seventh round, 193rd overall
Meanwhile, Rockland Nationals (CCHL) netminder Charlie Schenkel was ranked 17th among goaltenders on North American clubs.
The 2022 NHL Draft is slated for July 7-8 at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
