CAPTAIN ALBRECHT CONTINUES PLAYOFF SURGE

Carson Albrecht notched his fourth multi-goal game of this post-season, scoring twice and adding an assist, leading the Melfort Mustangs past the visiting Estevan Bruins 4-1 in Game 5 Friday night, giving Melfort a 3-2 series lead in their Best-of-Seven Semi-Final.

Albrecht now has 10-goals in 10 playoff games, twice as many as nearly anyone else (Battlefords’ Quinton Loon-Stewardson is next with 6).  He also takes over the league-lead with 14-points.

Colton Schell added his first of the playoffs to open the scoring and Tanner Zentner picked up a powerplay goal.  Noah Giesbrecht made 32/33 saves in the win, and has allowed just four goals in Melfort’s three home games in the series, making 86/90 saves (.956%) at home in the series.

Isaiah Thomas scored his first of the playoffs for Estevan, tying the game 1-1 just 11 seconds after Schell had opened things up.

Grant Boldt made 22/25 saves for the Bruins, who will try to keep it a homer series when they host Game 6 on Sunday.

The winner of the series advances to face the Battlefords North Stars in the Canalta Cup Final.
