CLOSE SHUTS THE DOOR IN HUMBOLDT

By Craig Stein

Justen Close stopped 43 shots, turning in his first shutout this season as the Kinderlsey Klippers went into Humboldt and blanked the Broncos 2-0 on Thursday night.

It’s the ninth shutout of Close’s three year career as he racked up five in just 30 appearances in his rookie year, and three more last season.  They were out-shot 43-36 in Humboldt.

The teams were scoreless through 40 minutes until Kyle Bosch scored less than a minute into the third.  Cameron Shorrock added one more in the third and Ty Enns picked up assists on both goals for the Klippers (16-8-2-1).

Dane Dow made 34/36 saves in goal for the Broncos (19-8-2-1), who continue to lead the Global Ag Risk Solutions Division, but have now dropped three in a row (0-2-1).

Both teams take Friday off, before the Klippers return home to welcome Notre Dame on Saturday.  The Broncos welcome Yorkton on Sunday afternoon.
