ARNOLD LEADS HAWKS TO GAME 1 WIN

SJHL Playoff MVP Scores Three

It was the Brandan Arnold show on the opening night of the Anavet Cup in Steinbach.

The Nipawin 20-year-old and SJHL Playoff MVP scored early, late, and often leading the Hawks to a 4-3 victory in Game 1 in Steinbach Friday night.

Arnold opened the scoring 1:17 into the game, made it 2-0 late in the first, set up a Carter Doerksen goal still before the end of the first frame and had the Hawks up 3-1 after 20.  After the Pistons came back in the second, Arnold then finished off his hat trick and four point night with 1:04 left in the third for the 4-3 win.

Bradley Schoonbaert and Drew Worrad each had a goal and two assists for Steinbach.  Austin Heidemann had their other marker.

Game 2 goes Saturday in Steinbach, before the series moves to Nipawin beginning Tuesday with Game 3.
