REGINA, SK – The Flin Flon Bombers have hired Rylan Thiessen as the third assistant coach ahead of the 2026-27 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) campaign.
Thiessen, 25, played for the Bombers in the 2021-22 season, posting an assist in the Centennial Cup and helping to lead the club to Game 7 of the SJHL Final.
A Brandon, MB native, Thiessen graduated from Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario, this past year. He played in 109 regular and post-season OUA contests with the Badgers between 2022 and 2026.
“Coming back a year after winning the championship that this town so greatly deserved makes it even more special,” he told the Bombers’ website.
“With this also being the 100th anniversary of the Bombers franchise, it’s going to be an awesome season to be a part of. I’m really looking forward to being back in the community, working with the team, and having the opportunity to meet and learn from so many great alums who have been part of Bomber hockey over the past 100 years. I’m extremely excited to get started and can’t wait to be back in Flin Flon.”
He joins Tyler Szturm and Chris Bortis in supporting new Bomber bench boss Cole McCaig for Flin Flon’s 100th anniversary campaign.
