The Flin Flon Bombers are extremely proud to announce the hiring of Cole McCaig as the organization’s new Head Coach and General Manager. A familiar face within the Bombers family, McCaig returns to Flin Flon after spending seven seasons behind the bench as the club’s Assistant Coach and Assistant General Manager before moving to the BCHL. A former Bombers player from 2011 to 2014, McCaig has built a strong reputation for his leadership, player development, and commitment to excellence, making him a natural choice to lead the franchise into its next chapter.
Throughout his coaching career, McCaig played an integral role in one of the most successful eras in recent Bombers history. During his time on the coaching staff, Flin Flon became a perennial contender, earning multiple trips to the SJHL Final while developing countless players on and off the ice. Known for his tireless work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to build meaningful relationships with players, McCaig has earned the respect of colleagues across junior hockey and returns with valuable experience gained at the BCHL level.
The Bombers organization is excited to welcome Cole and his family back to Flin Flon as he takes the reins as Head Coach and General Manager. With deep roots in the community and a passion for the Maroon and White, McCaig is eager to build on the championship culture established within the organization while continuing the tradition of developing outstanding young men and competing for championships. The future of Bombers hockey is in capable hands, and the organization looks forward to this exciting new era under Cole McCaig’s leadership.
Cole McCaig had this to say following the announcement of his return: “It’s an honour and a privilege to be named the next Head Coach & General Manager for the Flin Flon Bombers. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to return to Flin Flon. This is a special organization and community that means a lot to my family and I. I look forward to working with this group of talented players and building upon the winning culture in place.
I want to thank Tim Babcock and the rest of the board of directors for trusting me to lead this team. I’d also like to recognize and thank Wayne Labrie, Dakota Mason and the Brooks Bandits for all of their support last season and wish them all the best in the future. Lastly, I want to thank Mike Reagan for always believing in me and the mentorship he has provided me since day one of my coaching career.”
Team President Tim Babcock has this to say following the announcement: “This signing is a welcome home, not a welcome aboard. When we learned Mike was moving on, we knew there was only one guy for the job. By signing Cole, it allows us to move forward without skipping a beat. He is familiar with the team, with the community, and he understands what it means to be a Bomber. ”
