Bombers’ Kuzma, Smith land big commits

The Flin Flon Bombers, proud members of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL), are pleased to announce that forward Drew Kuzma has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the Lindenwood University Lions.

Kuzma was acquired from the Weyburn Red Wings prior to the 2022 CJHL Trade Deadline in January and produced 24 points (10g, 14a) in 26 games in the maroon and white. Kuzma was the Bombers leading scorer in the playoffs with 17 points (9g, 8a) in 18 games. Drew also had a goal and 3 assists in 5 games at the Centennial Cup in Estevan, Saskatchewan.

Lindenwood University will be joining the NCAA Division I college ranks after winning  4 national championships at the ACHA Division I level. The Lions are currently coached by former NHL player Rick Zombo.


Flin Flon Bombers captain Zak Smith will continue his hockey career at Dalhousie University (U-Sports) in Halifax, Nova Scotia this fall.

Smith was acquired from the Neepawa Titans of the MJHL after spending the previous three seasons with the WHL’s Red Deer Rebels. Zak finished second in team scoring with 48 points (20g, 28a) in 50 games. Smith’s 20 goals was a team high and he led the Bombers in playoff scoring with 17 points (9g, 8a) in 18 games.

The Dalhousie Lions currently play in the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) conference and finished the 2021-22 season with a 11-11-1 record.

Smith is the fifth Bomber to receive a scholarship this season.
