The Humboldt Broncos have acquired the rights to 2002 born forward Rhett Gibson in exchange for a PDF.

Gibson was the 18th overall pick in the 2017 SJHL Bantam Draft, being selected by the Weyburn Red Wings in the second round. Following his final year of U18 AAA hockey with the Saskatoon Blazers, where he produced at a point-per-game pace (38pts in 38 games), the Saskatoon native elected to take his talents across the border to the southern states.

In 2019/20, Gibson suited up for the Phoenix Jr. Coyotes of the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League, a U18 AAA program in Arizona. He scored five goals and added five assists in 18 games. The following year Gibson returned to Canada, albeit in the AJHL with the Drumheller Dragons.  He was held off the scoresheet in six appearances with Drumheller before the season was shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gibson will now enter his fourth league in four years and suit up for his first SJHL game as a member of the Broncos in 2021/22.
