The Centennial Cup hosting Estevan Bruins surived a Game 1 scare from the Notre Dame Hounds, and won the next four in a row, capped off with Saturday’s 8-1 win at home over the Hounds, to win their SJHL Quarter-Final series in five games.

Mark Rumsey (2g-1a), Dayton Deics (2g-1a) and Olivier Pouliot scored twice each as the Bruins blew it open with three goals in the first period and put it away with four more in the second.  Eric Pearce and Kade Runke each added their fourth goals of the playoffs and Boston Bilous made 29/30 saves.

Connor Nolan added a third period goal for the Hounds.

The Bruins move on to the SJHL Semi-Finals, and being the league’s top seed, they’ll host the start the series, likely starting Friday.  The Bruins could still potentially play La Ronge, Yorkton, Flin Flin Flon or Battlefords in Round 2.  That field could get paired down a lot on Sunday when three Game 6’s hit the ice.  Yorkton (vs Melfort) and Flin Flon (vs Battlefords) each have chances to clinch on home ice, up three games to two, while Humboldt takes a 3-2 edge into Game 6 on the road in La Ronge.
