Bruins and Hounds Find the Win Column Tuesday Night

Both the Estevan Bruins and Notre Dame Hounds found the win column for the first time in the 22/23 season Tuesday night.

For the Bruins, they went in to Nipawin and earned a 4-1 victory over the Hawks.  Liam Lucas opened the scoring on the power-play in the opening stanza to get the visitors ahead. The Bruins would then add to their lead in the 2nd. Tyler Guy, Kade Runke, and Alex Blanchard all found the back of the net to give Estevan a commanding 4-0 lead. Maguire Ratzlaff would break Cam Hrdlicka’s shutout in the first minute of the 3rd, but the 19-year-old was solid in between the pipes for the Bruins, making 27 saves in the win. The two clubs will meet again tonight at the Centennial Arena in Nipawin.

Meanwhile, at the West Central Events Centre in Kindersley, it was a back and forth affair between the Notre Dame Hounds and the Kindersley Klippers. The Hounds took a 4-3 lead late in the 3rd period thanks to Jaryd Sych’s  2nd of the evening, but with one second left the Klippers would tie the game with Liam Bell’s first of the season, forcing overtime. The extra frame solved nothing and the two teams would head to the shootout for the first time this season. Aiden Bangs opened the scoring in the shootout for Kindersley, but the Hounds would respond with goals on their first two shots courtesy Will Dawson and Jaryd Sych and they would hang on for the 5-4 win. The Hounds will now head to Battlefords for a match-up against the undefeated North Stars Wednesday night and the Klippers will host the Melville Millionaires on Saturday.
