There were a pair of games Monday in the SJHL due to postponements from over the weekend thanks to the flash blizzard which hit southern Saskatchewan.
Despite sitting some regulars out, the Estevan Bruins picked up a 4-2 win on the road in Weyburn to claim the final meeting between the two Highway 39 rivals. Owen Barrow and Salvatore Collora had a goal and an assist in the win, and Cam Hrdlicka made 26 saves in the victory. The Bruins will now gear up for their first round series against the Flin Flon Bombers and for the Weyburn Red Wings they will look to regroup when they head to Battlefords for the start of their series against the 1st place North Stars. Both series begin on Friday.
Earlier in the day, the Notre Dame Hounds completed the home and home sweep of the Melville Millionaires winning 8-2. Both Dane Probe and Antoine St.Onge had hat tricks in the win, with Probe also having three assists. On the other side of the puck, Sam Schofield and Caden Drury had Melville’s goals in their final game of the season. The Mills close the campaign with a 14-36-5-1 record and will finish in last place in the SJHL standings.
The 22/23 SJHL regular season will conclude Tuesday night when the Notre Dame Hounds host the Humboldt Broncos. Puck drop is slated for 7:30pm.
