Bruins finalize “Dispersal Draft” futures with the Humboldt Broncos by transferring the rights to 1998 born D-man Mark Edmands.
Statement from Bruins Head Coach and GM Chris Lewgood:
Today’s decision was a tough one for me and all of us here with the Bruins. Mark has been a loyal, hardworking member of the Bruins organization since being listed by the club on his 15th birthday.
I would like to thank the Humboldt Broncos Hockey Operations for their patience and trust through this process. From day one we have been committed to fulfilling our responsibility to transferring a player who can be a difference maker in helping the Broncos to rebuild their on-ice product. Their willingness to delay this move has ultimately benefited all parties involved.
Allowing us time to get a good look at our roster through camp put us in a position to move a player who can step in and make an immediate impact in their lineup without our club sacrificing a player from an immediate area of need to our own lineup.
Additionally Mark will likely see an increased role in a young Broncos D corps as opposed to fighting for ice time in our group of mostly experienced SJHL veterans.
Lastly, we’d like to extend our sincere gratitude to Mark and the entire Edmands family for all of their hard work and dedication to the Bruins over the last several years. “Ed” did more than his share in contributing to the recent growth in our team culture and contributed significantly in the team’s on ice success during his time with the team.
