Estevan Bruins defenceman Blake Heward has committed to the University of Regina of USports for the 2024-2025 Canada West campaign.
Heward, 20, posted 30 points in 53 games during his one regular season as a member of the Bruins and added three assists in Estevan’s Round 1 post-season series with the Melfort Mustangs.
A Regina native, Heward spent time with the Regina Pat Canadians U18AAAs before featuring in 105 Western Hockey League contests with the Edmonton Oil Kings, and Calgary Hitmen.
He is the son of Jamie Heward, who spent 394 games in the National Hockey League and is currently an assistant coach with the Las Vegas Golden Knights American Hockey League affiliate in Henderson, NV.
Heward is the second SJHL defenceman to commit to Regina this year, as playoff MVP Chase Friedt-Mohr of the Melfort Mustangs will also be playing University hoc
