The Estevan Bruins continued their hot start to the regular season, winning 6-3 on Saturday night in Weyburn.
The game was essentially decided in the first period, when the Bruins came out and scored four unanswered goals. Caelan Fitzpatrick had two of those, including one marker that was scored shorthanded.
Newcomer Kade Runke, who was playing in his first SJHL game, also scored in the first period.
Red Wing goaltender Joseph Young was pulled after the first period and replaced by back up Dazza Mitchell.
Forward Mark Rumsey also had two points on the night and now leads the Bruins in scoring with five points in three games.
Bruin netminder Boston Bilous picked up his third consecutive win, making 26 saves in the victory.
The Bruins will now travel to Warman for the annual SJHL showcase, where they’ll take on the La Ronge Ice Wolves and Humboldt Broncos this Tuesday and Wednesday.
