NIPAWIN, SK – Four Game 1s and four wins by the higher seed to kick off the 2024 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League playoffs Friday night.
Harmon Laser-Hume made 31 saves as the No. 1 seed Flin Flon Bombers shut out the No. 8 Kindersley Klippers 4-0 at the Whitney Forum.
Clay Sleeva led the way with two assists and James Venne stopped 19 of 20 shots he faced as the No. 2 Melfort Mustangs cruised past the No. 7 Estevan Bruins at the Northern Lights Palace.
Meanwhile, in Humboldt, the No. 3 Broncos were led by a pair from Boris Kofman and took down the No. 6 Weyburn Red Wings 6-1 at the Elgar Petersen Arena.
Finally in North Battleford, a cagey affair went the way of the defending champion and No. 4 seed North Stars by the score of 4-1 over the No. 5 Melville Millionaires. The scoreline was padded by two late empty netters by Battlefords.
