Goals for Kidsport Reaches 677

By SJHL

The horn has sounded on the first half of the 2018-2019 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) season, which means SaskEnergy’s Goals for KidSport campaign is going to intermission, as well. With seven game nights in the books, and already $13,540 raised, KidSport volunteers, SaskEnergy employees and Network Members are sticking to the game plan as they gear up for the push to 1,000 home goals by the end of the season.

“It has been an exciting season thus far for Goals for KidSport, and we hope to carry the momentum into the new year,” says SaskEnergy Community Involvement Leader, Shannon Doka.

Goals for KidSport, presented by your local SaskEnergy Network Members, is an annual campaign aimed at raising $20 per home goal scored during the SJHL regular season — up to a total of 1,000 goals.

The funds raised go toward making sports opportunities a reality for children by alleviating costs for the parents. To date, KidSport Saskatchewan and SaskEnergy have coordinated game nights in Humboldt, Estevan, Notre Dame, Melfort, La Ronge, Kindersley, and North Battleford where local KidSport Chapters raised awareness and funds through goals, raffle and chuck a puck sales.

Not only are funds raised for KidSport, but also there is special recognition of a local team volunteer at each of the game nights.

“A huge shout out to the KidSport volunteers as well as the fans of the SJHL who are supporting our cause, we appreciate every dollar that is raised in each of the participating communities,” says KidSport Community Consultant, Tammy Hoffart.

As of December 23, 677 home goals have been scored. The home goal-scoring leader is the Battlefords North Stars with 80 goals, followed by the Melfort Mustangs with 75 goals.
