Hawks Start Road Trip on Winning Note

The Nipawin Hawks got back in the win column Wednesday night with a 5-2 victory over the Notre Dame Hounds as they kicked off 3 games in 3 nights.

Alex Ochitwa got the scoring started for the Hawks just over a minute into the opening stanza. After Sam Kroon tied the game at one just a few minutes later, Maguire Ratzlaff would take over. The 19-year-old would find the back of the net twice in the final six minutes of the frame to give Nipawin a 3-1 lead.

Sam Kroon would net his 2nd of the evening for the Hounds in the 2nd period to get Notre Dame within 1, but that was as close as they would come as the Hawks would restore their two goal lead just 2:07 later to make it 4-2. They would add one more in the third to earn a 5-2 win.

With the victory, the Hawks improve to 4-4-1-0 on the season and will continue their southern road trip Thursday night when they meet the Weyburn Red Wings at Crescent Point Place at 7:00 p.m.
