HAWKS WRAP TRIP WITH SHOOTOUT WIN

By Craig Stein

The Nipawin Hawks went 2-1 on a weekend road swing, with a shutout win in Weyburn, a loss in Estevan, and now a 4-3 shootout decision over the Notre Dame Hounds in the SJHL’s lone game Sunday in Wilcox.

Nipawin overcame a quick 3-0 deficit, scoring once in each period before grabbing the extra point in the shootout.

Austen Flaman scored twice for the Hawks (9-5-0-0), while Jordan Simoneau (1g-1a) added a goal and an assist.  Jeremy Bisson had two assists as well as the shootout winner, and Patrick Pugliese made 23/26 saves.

The Hounds (6-8-0-1) rolled to a 3-0 lead on goals from Cole Stevenson, Marshall Wilton and Tim Gould in a span of 6:09 midway through the first period.  Andrew Henderson made 30/33 saves through regulation and overtime.

Both teams are back on home ice on Tuesday, as the Hawks host Estevan and the Hounds welcome Melville.
