FIRST GAME BACK FOR BOTH TEAMS
Riley Kohonick made 34 saves on 35 shots and the Notre Dame Hounds beat the Humboldt Broncos 3-1 on the road in the first game back from the break for both teams.
The Hounds (16-16-2-4) got back to .500 and scored once in each period, as Jarrett Penner (1g-1a) opened the scoring early in the first period, Conor MacLean added some insurance in the second and Marshall Wilton (1g-1a) notched one more in the third.
Kohonick’s shutout bid was broken by Humboldt’s Drew Warkentine with 2:17 remaining. It was Warkentine’s 11th goal in 13 games. The Broncos (21-14-2-1) have now dropped four in a row. This was Scott Barney’s debut as Head Coach, as the former assistant was promoted after the club and Nathan Oystrick parted ways over the Christmas break.
