The La Ronge Ice Wolves are pleased to announce that 20-year-old forward Lleyton Shearon has committed to Trinity Western University (U Sports) for the 2024-25 season.
“It’s a school that is close to home for me,” said Shearon. “Obviously, U Sports is the best division in Canada for that level of hockey. Due to those two factors, I can’t pick a better school than Trinity Western University.”
The Langley, B.C. product has recorded 39 points in 58 regular season games with the Ice Wolves over the past two seasons. Prior to joining the Ice Wolves, Shearon played for the Langley Trappers of the PIJHL and the Langley Rivermen in the BCHL.
“With the league (U Sports) consisting of older players, I’m expecting it to be pretty physical, a pretty grindy league,’ said Shearon. “Obviously, there’s a bunch of former WHL players, so it’s going to be a huge step up from the SJHL.”
Shearon is the second Ice Wolf to commit to a post-secondary institution for next season after Dylan Handel signed with Concordia University of Edmonton in the ACAC ranks. Shearon will be studying business at Trinity Western University.
Meantime, the Ice Wolves are back in action Friday night in Flin Flon when they face the Bombers for the last time this season.
