La Ronge is on the clock; Ice Wolves acquire 1st pick in draft

The La Ronge Ice Wolves have acquired the 1st overall pick in the 2009-portion of the 2024 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League draft from the Notre Dame Hounds, in exchange for 2005-born defenceman Ethan Andrews and a Player Development Fee.

As the league has shifted to the two rounds of 2009-born players being selected first, before the six rounds of 2008-born players, the Ice Wolves will select first on June 11 at the 2024 SJHL Draft, Presented by UPL.

Andrews, 19, hails from Kimberley, B.C., and split 41 games last season between the Flin Flon Bombers and Ice Wolves.

He attended Pacific Coast Academy of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League in Victoria, BC before signing with the Bombers last off-season.

The 2005-born, left-shot blue liner posted 10 points in his rookie campaign a year ago.
