REGINA, SK – Ty Matonovich made 38 stops against his old club, and Wyatt Lacoste’s second-period goal was the winner as the Weyburn Red Wings downed the Humboldt Broncos 4-2 Wednesday night.
The victory moved Weyburn back into third place past idle Yorkton.
Dazza Mitchell stopped 32 pucks in his first game against the Wings, for whom he had made 93 appearances before being dealt to the Broncos at the trade deadline.
In Nipawin, the La Ronge Ice Wolves closed the gap on the final playoff spot to two points with a 5-2 victory over the Hawks.
Grayden Perozni led the way with two goals and four points on the night for La Ronge.
