The Melfort Mustangs are proud to announce that Chase Friedt-Mohr is committing to the University of Regina Men’s Hockey Program. Friedt-Mohr joined the Mustangs organization as a 20 year-old and quickly showed what all he was capable of. Earning himself an “A” and a permeant spot on the Top Defensive scoring list among the league, Friedt-Mohr was a force to be reckoned with. Friedt-Mohr’s signature slapshot from the blue line made him a fan favourite!
Friedt-Mohr a Prince Albert Native, played most of his junior career in the WHL with the Edmonton Oil Kings, Spokane Chiefs and Tri City Americans. However he did play 20 games in the SJHL prior to this season with the Kindersley Klippers, in total clocking in over 200 junior games in his career. All together Freidt-Mohr has 44 goals (14 in Melfort) and 122 assists (42 in Melfort) and 167 total points (56 in Melfort).
Head Coach Trevor Blevins had nothing but high praise for the ’03 Defenseman: “Chase’s commitment to the University of Regina Cougars is very well deserved. His work ethic and dedication on and off the ice has been outstanding this season. He has put all the work in to make this happen. Not only are the Cougars going to have a great player on their roster, more importantly, they are getting a quality individual in their program. Chase is an individual of high character and respect and they are lucky to have him to build their program around. ”
When asked this is what Friedt-Mohr had to say about his final season of Junior A: “I knew my last year of Junior hockey I wanted to play closer to home, and was beyond excited to be traded to Melfort. Trevor provided me every opportunity to succeed and I ran with it. I would like thank the entire Melfort organization, the most supportive Mustangs fans and hands down the best billet family. I also would like to thank the Spokane Chiefs, Edmonton Oil Kings and Tri City Americans that were along with me on my hockey journey.”
Friedt-Mohr is planning on doing a general Arts and Science degree and then potentially move into Education.
We want to thank Chase for the amazing season thus far and the entire Friedt-Mohr family for the support this season, we cannot wait to see what your future holds for you Chase!
