SGEU MVP of the Month – Steven Kesslering, Battlefords North Stars

20-year-old forward Steven Kesslering is turning it up at the right time of the year for the Battlefords North Stars. The Viceroy, Saskatchewan product soared in the final few weeks of the regular season to move into 4th in SJHL scoring, and then started the post-season with 6 goals and 3 assists in six games. In total, Kesslering finished the month of March with 15 goals and 6 assists in 11 games played, helping the Stars finish 1st in the SJHL and getting them to a 1-0 series lead in the 2nd round of the playoffs against Melfort.

Sasktel Goalie of the Week – Harmon Laser-Hume, Flin Flon Bombers

Also having a strong month of March and helping his team to a 1-0 series lead in the 2nd round is Flin Flon Bombers goaltender Harmon Laser-Hume. The 19-year-old was the busiest goalie during the month of March, playing 759 minutes and played a big part in the Bombers winning their thrilling first round series against the Estevan Bruins in seven games. The pride of Creston, B.C finished the month with a 7-2-2-1 record.

DirectWest Rookie of the Month – Pavel Mackenzie, Yorkton Terriers

While it was a tough season for the Yorkton Terriers, the future is bright in the Parkland region. One of the bright spots this year and in the final couple of weeks of the campaign was the play of Pavel Mackenzie. The 17-year-old Cumberland House, Saskatchewan product had 4 goals and 5 assists in the five games during the month of March and finished the season with 14 goals and 15 assists. Mackenzie will also be representing Saskatchewan at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championship next month in Winnipeg.

SuperU Defenseman of the Month – Kevin Minnoch, Melfort Mustangs

20-year-old Defenseman Kevin Minnoch led the way when it came to goal scoring during the regular season among Defenseman in the SJHL and has continued his strong play to start the 2023 SJHL playoffs presented by UPL. In six playoff games so far this post-season, Minnoch has a goal and five assists and helped the Mustangs knock off the La Ronge Ice Wolves in six games and get his club to the 2nd round of post-season.
