SGEU MVP of the Week: Mason Karakochuk, Nipawin Hawks
Undoubtedly, the Nipawin Hawks are taking their status as ‘party spoilers’ seriously, and nobody was more influential in their three wins in a three-day road trip than Karakochuk. The 18-year-old from Saskatoon has scored a goal in each of his last four contests and capped off an explosive road trip with a four-point night in Estevan on Saturday.
Weekly Stats: 3 GP, 3 G, 5 A, 8 PTS
Bourgault Forward of the Week: Liam Fitzgerald, Weyburn Red Wings
With all the firepower atop the Weyburn line-up, Fitzgerald can sometimes be underappreciated, but he was not this week. He posted a two-goal, four-point effort in a wild loss to Nipawin, and playing with Jerome Maharaj on the top line lately has suited the speedy veteran winger.
Weekly Stats: 2 GP, 3 G, 3 A, 6 PTS
SuperU Defenceman of the Week: Nathan Da Silva, La Ronge Ice Wolves
The La Ronge Ice Wolves won’t go away from the playoff picture, and the road trip this past week was massive for them to stay alive. La Ronge needed someone on the back end to really step up with the injury to their star and captain, Rylan Silzer, and Da Silva did that in a big way. Suddenly, Da Silva is fifth in rookie points among defencemen and only four points back of the top of first-year blueliners 18 and younger. The slick Surrey, B.C. boy is one for the present and future.
Weekly Stats: 4 GP, 1 G, 4 A, 5 PTS
Sasktel Goalie of the Week: Justen Maric, Battlefords North Stars
The Battlefords North Stars needed a big weekend with a pair against Kindersley, and they got exactly what they hoped for, and Maric was an enormous reason why. The Klippers threw 80 shots at the veteran over the weekend, and he only allowed four in the two games as the Stars moved up to sixth and earned some breathing room from the bottom of the playoff picture.
Weekly Stats: 2 starts, 2-0-0-0, .950 SV%, 2.00 GAA
IKS Media Rookie of the Week: Konnor Watson, Nipawin Hawks
Watson’s combination of speed and size is tantalizing, and he finally busted out on a big way this past weekend for the Hawks, who took all six points from their three-game road trip. His four-point night Friday in Weyburn was a career-high, and the present and future are super bright for the Spiritwood, SK native.
Weekly Stats: 3 GP, 2 G, 6 A, 8 PTS
Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Week: Finley Radloff, Nipawin Hawks (from Nipawin, Sask)
With two two-goal games on a 5-goal road trip for the Hawks captain and top of the points, Radloff deserves a measure of credit for helping to guide this Nipawin team to a high level of spoiler over the last couple of weeks as the campaign winds down. Health has derailed his campaign to some degree this year, but Finley is an elite player in this league and should be a dominant force in 2025-26.
Weekly Stats: 3 GP, 5 G, 2 A, 7 PTS
