The Humboldt Broncos leapfrogged the Melfort Mustangs for 3rd place in the SJHL standings this weekend and leading the charge offensively for the Broncos like he has all season was Spencer Bell. In the Broncos’ two wins, the Warman, Saskatchewan product found the back of the net twice in both games. This pulls Bell into a tie for the league lead in goals with Justin Lies with 35 on the season.

Bourgault Forward of the Week: Zac Somers, Melfort Mustangs
Despite losing both games this weekend, it was a big week for University of Maine commit Zac Somers individually. In three games played this past week, Somers scored in all three games and added a trio of assists for six points. The 19-year-old is up to 16 goals and 25 assists on the season in just 31 games played.

SuperU Defenceman of the Week: Parker Layton, La Ronge Ice Wolves
Parker Layton and the La Ronge Ice Wolves won’t go down without a fight when it comes to battling for a playoff spot. Layton found the back of the net twice in a big comeback win over the Melville Millionaires on Saturday while also logging heavy minutes for the Wolves. The 20-year-old La Ronge product also added an assist in the loss Friday. The three points this weekend move Layton into 6th in SJHL scoring among Defencemen with 15 goals and 22 assists.

DirectWest Rookie of the Week: Tyson Endall, Nipawin Hawks
The Nipawin Hawks snapped their lengthy losing skid on Saturday and in large part it was due to the play of Tyson Endall in between the pipes. The 18-year-old from Lyalta, Alberta stopped 29 of 30 shots as the Hawks earned a big two points on the road in Kindersley against the Klippers.

Sasktel Goalie of the Week: Benjamin Motew, Humboldt Broncos
Since returning from the SJHL/MJHL Showcase, Benjamin Motew has been lights out for the Humboldt Broncos. The 19-year-old got both starts for the Broncos in their home and home against Melfort this weekend and Friday in the SJHL Game of the Month he was superb making 32 stops. Motew is currently 3rd in the SJHL with a .913 save percentage.

Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Week: Kenneth Marquart, Flin Flon Bombers
Kenneth Marquart had a solid week in between the pipes for the Flin Flon Bombers as they played four games in five nights in southern Saskatchewan. The Regina product won both of his starts and only allowed three goals in two games, making a total of 64 saves.
