PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (Jan 21)

CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Quintin Loon-Stewardson, Battlefords North Stars
2000 F Quintin Loon-Stewardson (Sioux Lookout ON) ripped two goals and five assists in four games played this past week, all North Star victories.  He had two assists on Tuesday in a 5-1 win over Notre Dame on Tuesday and then finished the week with back to back solid performances by scoring once and setting up two others in a 6-3 win over La Ronge, at home, on Friday.  Saturday, he scored once and factored in on another in a 3-2 decision over the Hounds. Overall, he has 25-goals and 25-assists in 45-games played, which places him in the top ten. Runner-up: Elijah Loon-Stewardson, Battlefords.

MAYFAIR DIAGNOSTICS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK:  Seth Summers, Battlefords North Stars
1999 D Seth Summers (St. Albert AB) had points in all four North Star victories this past week, including one goal and one assist on Tuesday at Notre Dame.  Summers then had a helper at Melville on Wednesday and then back home to LaRonge on Friday before finishing the week with a goal against the Hounds on Saturday.  Summers now has 10-goals and 28-assists in 44-games, which is good for second amongst SJHL blueliners for the year. Runner-up: Matthew Fletcher, Battlefords.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:  Kristian Lyon, Battlefords North Stars
2000 G Kristian Lyon (Langley BC) made his debut on Wednesday night in Melville and was perfect in making 42-saves in a shutout victory.  He followed that up by making his home debut on Friday and stopped 37-of-40 in a win over the La Ronge Ice Wolves. Runner-up: Austin Schwab, Battlefords North Stars.

DIRECTWEST SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:  Tristan Lemyre, Flin Flon Bombers
2001 F Tristan Lemyre (Mirabel PQ) played only one game this past week, but he was a standout with two goals and one assist, including the overtime winner on Friday night over the Nipawin Hawks.  Lemyre has been one of the hottest players in the league for two months scoring 29-points in his last 15-games, which is second in the SJHL during that time span. Overall, he has 20-goals and 20-assists in 28-games.  He’s tied with Kyle Ford of La Ronge in rookie scoring, but is tops amongst first year players in points per game. Runner-up: Adam Nobes, Melfort.
