CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Eddie Gallagher, Estevan Bruins
2000 F Eddie Gallagher (St. Albert AB) led the Bruins with 1-goal and 4-assists in 2-games played this past week, both of which were Estevan victories. Gallagher had a four point game in a 6-2 win over Notre Dame on Friday night and then he set up a goal in a 6-5 overtime decision over Humboldt on Saturday. Gallagher has enjoyed a banner January with 12-points in his last 9-games and since December 1st, he leads Estevan in points with 19 in 17-games. He has 9-goals and 23-assists in 41-games on the year. Runner-up: Ben Tkachuk, Melfort Mustangs
MAYFAIR DIAGNOSTICS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK: Mason Martin, Flin Flon Bombers
1999 D Mason Martin (Winnipeg MB) came off a solid showing at the SJHL MJHL Showcase with a two goal performance on Friday night against the Nipawin Hawks, including a third period powerplay marker that put the game out of reach. He had an assist one night later in what ended up being a Hawks victory. Martin has 11-goals and 22-assists in 41-games overall and he’s got 4-goals and 6-assists in 9-games going back to the middle of December. Runner-up: Devan Harrison, Estevan Bruins.
SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK: Michael Harroch, Humboldt Broncos
2001 G Michael Harroch (North Vancouver BC) returned from a long injury layoff to backstop the Broncos to a win and an overtime loss during their three game in three day road trip. In making just his second appearance since early November, Harroch made 32-saves against Estevan as the Broncos scraped out a single point. On Sunday, Harroch made 32-saves on 33-shots in a win over Notre Dame to finish the weekend with a .928 SPCT. Overall, Harroch is now 3-4-2-and-1 with a 3.15-GAA and .911-SPCT. Runner-up: Berk Berkeliev, Melville.
DIRECTWEST SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: Logan Kurki, Humboldt Broncos
2001 F Logan Kurki (Maple Ridge BC) scored four goals and one assist during a three game road trip over the course of three days this past weekend as the Broncos managed three of a possible six points in the standings. Kurki also played in the SJHL MJHL Showcase this past week for the 18U Team Schwartz. Kurki picked up two goals against Weyburn on Friday and then added a goal and an assist on Saturday in Estevan before finishing the week with a goal Sunday afternoon at Notre Dame. Kurki is making a charge for SJHL Rookie Of The Year consideration with 14-goals and 15-assists in 33-games played.
