SGEU MVP of the Week: Alex Izyk, Battlefords North Stars

Alex Izyk continues to add to his career year with the Battlefords North Stars. The 20-year-old scored two more times this weekend and added four assists as the North Stars earned a pair of wins at home against the La Ronge Ice Wolves. Don’t look now, but Izyk is now only three points back of Noah Houle for the league lead in scoring among Defenceman in the SJHL. He currently has 14 goals and 33 assists.

Bourgault Forward of the Week: Boris Kofman, Humboldt Broncos

The only other team to go 2-0 this week was the Humboldt Broncos. Leading the way for the Broncos in their balanced attack was forward Boris Kofman for scored twice and added a pair of assists. In 10 games this season with the Broncos the Toronto, Ontario product has four goals and six assists.

SuperU Defenceman of the Week: Felix Allard, Estevan Bruins

This week saw some amazing performances by Defenceman in the SJHL and one blue-liner who has been racking up the points all year has been Felix Allard. In his two games this weekend against the Yorkton Terriers, the 20-year-old scored three more goals and added an assist. Allard leads the league in goals by a Defenceman with 17 and is 3rd in scoring with 39 points.

DirectWest Rookie of the Week: Jye Zawatsky, Yorkton Terriers

Terriers rookie forward Jye Zawatsky had a big week as his hometown team earned a split against the Estevan Bruins in their home and home. The 18-year-old scored Saturday and added four assists throughout the weekend. In his first season in the SJHL, Zawatsky is up to 12 goals and 11 assists.

Sasktel Goalie of the Week: Kenneth Marquart, Flin Flon Bombers & James Venne, Melfort Mustangs

Kenneth Marquart of the Flin Flon Bombers and James Venne of the Melfort Mustangs had identical stats this past week and it’s only fitting that they both earn Sasktel Goalie of the Week honours. Funny enough, both goaltenders had 29 save shutouts against the Nipawin Hawks, Marquart on Friday and Venne on Saturday.

Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Week: Tylin Hilbig, Kindersley Klippers (from Kindersley, Sask)

It was a big weekend for the Kindersley Klippers as they earned three out of a possible four points at home against Weyburn. Local product Tylin Hilbig found the back of the net four times and all four goals were huge for his club. Friday he netted the tying goal with 14 seconds left to send the game to overtime and get his club a valuable point in the standings. Then on Saturday, Hilbig would net a hat-trick as the Klippers won 4-1. Hilbig is up to 28 goals and 17 assists this year.
