SGEU MVP of the Week: Ben Motew, Humboldt Broncos

The Humboldt Broncos have to be feeling great heading into the post-season after two big wins at home against the No. 1-seed Flin Flon Bombers, and the play of ‘Big Save’ Ben Motew in net is a huge piece of it. The Air Force Academy D1 commit allowed only four goals in the three games of the week, which also included a professional victory in Wilcox against the Notre Dame Hounds. Baring unforeseen circumstances, the Humboldt net belongs to Motew the rest of the way, and as long as he is in there the Broncos’ faithful should feel secure heading into the post-season.
Weekly Stats: 3-0-0-0, 1.33 GAA, .965 SV%, 110 saves

Bourgault Forward of the Week: Braeden Jockims, Nipawin Hawks

The second half of the year was tough for the Hawks, but Jockims and company gave their great fans something to cheer about with two solid victories to end the campaign. A 2005 birth year eligible to return next year, Jockims counted two three-point games in the wins over Melville and La Ronge and found some great late-season chemistry with Chase Visser and Dallyn Peekeekoot.
Weekly Stats: 2GP, 3G-3A, 6 PTSĀ

SuperU Defenceman of the Week: Tyson Perkins, Yorkton Terriers

A remarkable 138-game SJHL career ends for Tyson Perkins, and with four points on the week, one that included a two-goal, one assist performance in the season finale at home to Melville, he was more-than able to close it out in style. The steady-eddie, big-bodied blue liner committed to Red Deer Polytechnic went through a number of ups and downs with the club over his three seasons, but was certainly one of the best defenders in the league over that span.
Weekly Stats: 2GP, 2G-2A, 4 PTS

Sasktel Goalie of the Week: Logan Cunningham, Battlefords North Stars

Given how February and March had gone for the defending champs, they badly needed a response in their last few games heading into the post-season; and they got it. The 2005-born Cunningham started both of the Stars’ games over the weekend, both big wins over the Kindersley Klippers, and was solid, earning save percentages of .927 and .944 respectively. Riding a three-game win streak, it seems likely he will get the nod to open Round 1 against the Melville Millionaires on Friday.
Weekly Stats: 2-0-0-0, 2.50 GAA, .935 SV%, 72 saves

DirectWest Rookie of the Week: Ben Costantino, Humboldt Broncos

Costantino has been so consistent throughout the whole season really, and if it is pretty common for youngsters to tire out late in seasons, there has been no sign of that from the big defenceman. The 2005-born blue liner posted a goal and an assist at the Notre Dame Hounds Tuesday, and added two assists and shutdown minutes against the high-powered Flin Flon Bombers over the weekend.
Weekly Stats: 3GP, 1G-3A, 4 PTS

Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Week: Caden Drury, Melville Millionaires (from Carrot River, Sask)

Caden Drury only played in two of the three Melville games this past week, but made them count as he potted an impressive hat trick at home Friday during the SaskTel Game of the Month vs. Yorkton. Add to that an assist that night and the game before vs. Nipawin, and you have a wonderful week for the Mil’s top scorer.
Weekly Stats: 2GP, 3G-2A, 5 PTS
