SGEU MVP of the Week & Sasktel Goalie of the Week: Cam Hrdlicka, Estevan Bruins 

The Estevan Bruins and Flin Flon Bombers are off to a Game 7 Tuesday night at the Whitney Forum and a big reason why is Cam Hrdlicka. In 6 games so far this series, the Bruins have been outshot 274-194. Hrdlicka’s week was highlighted by a pair of incredible performances. It started in Game 4 Wednesday where he made 35 saves in a 3-0 shutout win to tie the series. He then followed that up with a 66 save outing in Game 5 up in Flin Flon which the Bruins won 2-1 in overtime.

DirectWest Rookie of the Week: David Rioux, Melfort Mustangs

The Melfort Mustangs joined the Battlefords North Stars and the Humboldt Broncos in the 2nd round of the playoffs Sunday night and one player who stepped up his game in the “2nd Season” is rookie forward David Rioux. In four games this past week, the 18-year-old found the back of the net 3 times and added a pair of assists. This included an impressive four point performance in the Mustangs 8-2 win in Game 6 to close out their series with the Ice Wolves.

SuperU Defenseman of the Week: Cory King, Flin Flon Bombers

While the Flin Flon Bombers have been riddled with injuries up front, their blue line has stepped up their game in the post-season and this includes Cory King. In four games this week, King has been strong defensively for the Bombers and chipped in with three assists. This included a pair of assists in a do or die Game 6 Sunday night, which the Bombers won.
