PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (Nov 20)

CANALTA HOTELS PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Colby Brandt, Notre Dame Hounds
1998 F Colby Brandt (Regina SK) paced the Hounds to three straight victories this past week as the club ran its regulation unbeaten streak to seven overall.  Brandt had two assists in a 5-1 win over Battlefords on Wednesday and then scored twice and set up one in a 6-0 decision over La Ronge on Friday.  He finished the week with a goal and two assists in a 4-2 win against Melville on Saturday to run his season totals to 6-goals and 18-assists in 23-games played.  Runner up:  Chance Longjohn, Notre Dame.

SASKTEL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:  Jacob Standen, Notre Dame Hounds
1997 G Jacob Standen (Nanton AB) stopped 47 of 48 shots in two games played last week, which included a 17-save shutout against La Ronge on Friday.  Perhaps a greater feat was blocking 30-of-31 against the league leading Battlefords North Stars on Wednesday.  Standen is now 9-4-1-and-3 with a 2.19-GAA and .925-SPCT to go along with two shutouts.  Runner-up:  Jack Ryan, Notre Dame.

IBAS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK:  Cody Spagrud, Battlefords North Stars
1998 D Cody Spagrud (Gull Lake SK) had points in all three of his team’s wins this past week, including a banner three-assist game in Weyburn on Saturday as the Stars emerged 5-3 victors.  Spagrud scored on Sunday in Yorkton and also had an assist on Friday in Estevan to finish with a goal and five assists.  He has 1-goal and 8-assists in 19-games played on the year.  Runner-up:  Logan Boulet, Humboldt.

MYSASK 411 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:  Matthias Urbanski, Battlefords North Stars
1999 F Matthias Urbanski (Oliver BC) had a great road trip as he collected 5-goals and 1-assist in a four game stretch that saw the Stars win three games.  Urbanski scored in the loss to Notre Dame on Wednesday.  He scored again Friday in a win against Estevan.  He finished the week with a two goal game in Weyburn Saturday and another tally Sunday afternoon in Yorkton.  He has 9-goals and 4-assists in 16-games.  Runner-up:  Cade Kowalski, Weyburn.
