SGEU MVP of the Week: Trenton Curtis, La Ronge Ice Wolves

It was a massive week for the La Ronge Ice Wolves as they played four games at home and won all 4 of them to earn 8 points. Leading the way was 20-year-old forward Trenton Curtis. The Bethune, Saskatchewan product registered 4 goals and 3 assists this week, which included a hat-trick Tuesday night in a 7-3 win over the Kindersley Klippers. Since being acquired from the Melfort Mustangs in late September, Curtis has compiled 10 goals and 10 assists in 17 games played.

Sasktel Goalie of the Week: Topher Chirico, La Ronge Ice Wolves

Another player who stood out for the La Ronge Ice Wolves during their 4 win week was goaltender Topher Chirico. In two starts this past week, the 19-year-old was superb, allowing just one goal in both starts, stopping 74 of 76 shots faced. Chirico now has a 5-3 record on the season with a 3.20 GAA and .915 SV%. This is also his second time being named Sasktel Goalie of the Week.

Directwest Rookie of the Week: Liam Bridger, Flin Flon Bombers

The Flin Flon Bombers are off to a great start this season and ranked 13th in the CJHL Top 20 rankings. They continue to get contributions from up and down their line-up, including from rookie forward Liam Bridger. In Thursday night’s 8-3 win for the Bombers over the Yorkton Terriers, Bridger had a goal and 3 assists, which was his biggest offensive output in one game so far in his SJHL career. In 19 games played this season, Bridger has 7 goals and 5 assists on the year and is 7th in rookie scoring in the league.

Defenceman of the Week: Zander Stewart, Nipawin Hawks

The Nipawin Hawks have won 3 of their last 4 and one their most consistent players this year has been Defenceman Zander Stewart. The 19-year-old had another strong week for the Hawks offensively putting up a goal and 2 assists in 2 games this week, and played in every situation for the club. Stewart is currently tied for 5th in scoring among SJHL Defenceman with 2 goals and 14 assists.
