PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (Oct 7)

CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Chantz Petruic, Yorkton Terriers
1999 F Chantz Petruic (Moose Jaw SK) stepped up as captain of the Terriers and led his club with 5-goals and 2-assists in 2-games played this past week as the Terriers were in need of a victory having dropped six straight games.  Petruic led an unlikely victory over Battlefords on Tuesday by scoring 2-goals and 2-assists and then on Saturday he lit up Melville for a hat trick performance and he’s now at 9-goals and 7-assists in 9-games played overall. He’s factored in on 16 of his team’s 25 goals this season.  Runner-up: Matthias Urbanski, Battlefords.

MAYFAIR DIAGNOSTICS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK:  Matthew Fletcher, Battlefords North Stars
1999 D Matthew Fletcher (Saskatoon SK) wins this award for the second week in a row, by virtue of his big 4-point effort at Weyburn on Saturday as he was in on every goal as part of a 4-1 win, scoring twice and adding a pair of helpers.  Fletcher also set up a goal in Melville earlier in the week as the Stars went 3-and-1 on their southern swing. Fletcher now has 3-goals and 10-assists in 11-games on the year. Runner-up: Jake Hobson, Melfort.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:  Adam Dmyterko, Battleofrds North Stars
2000 G Adam Dmyterko (Saskatoon SK) backstopped the Stars to a pair of victories over the weekend, including a 34-save shutout at Estevan on Friday night and the Stars needed him to be perfect that night as they were only able to muster two on offense (one into an empty net).  Dmyterko stopped 23-of-24 one night later in Weyburn to finish the week with a 0.50-GAA and .983-SPCT. Overall, he’s 7-and-0, 1.86, .944 as the new number one netminder for the Stars. Runner-up: Keenan Rancier. Estevan.

DIRECTWEST SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:  Brett LeGrandeur, Yorkton Terriers
2000 F Brett LeGrandeur (Airdrie AB) was shifted onto the top line for the Terriers this past week and he answered with 1-goal and 3-assists in a pair of Yorkton victories.  Inserted onto a line with Chantz Petruic and Alec Zawatsky to be a defensive conscience, LeGrandeur has found instant chemistry as he registered his first points as an SJHLer.  Runner-up: Marco Lopez, Melfort.
