PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (Oct 8)

CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Brayden Camrud, Humboldt Broncos
1998 F Brayden Camrud (Saskatoon SK) erupted during a three game road trip this past week to score 4-goals and 6-assists to help his team emerge with three of a possible six points in the standings.  Camrud put up 2-goals and 3-assists in an 8-7 overtime loss to Yorkton on Tuesday and then factored in on every goal during Humboldt’s win over Estevan on Saturday.  Camrud has 9-goals and 9-assists in 11-games played on the year to rank amongst the league leaders.  Runner-up:  Jared Legien,  Yorkton.

IBAS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK:  Tim Gould, Notre Dame Hounds
2000 D Tim Gould (Riverview NB) helped his team to a win in their only game played last week by chipping in three assists as part of a five-goal second period as the Hounds downed Estevan.  Gould has 1-goal and 6-assists in 9-games and is one of three Notre Dame defensemen to be playing at a point per game pace over the last two weeks.  Runner-up:  Kayle Tosh, Melfort.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:  Justen Close, Kindersley Klippers
1998 G Justen Close (Kindersley SK) is delivering on the potential to be one of the league’s top netminders this season as he led the Klippers to three wins this past week, including stopping 71 of 74 shots in two wins at Flin Flon.  He also blocked 25 of 26 in a home ice win over Nipawin in what amounted to three games against tough competition.  Close is 6-and-2 with a sparking 1.99-GAA and .935-SPCT so far this season.  Runner-up:  Joel Grzybowski, Battlefords.

SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:  Riker Franczak, Humboldt Broncos
2000 F Riker Franczak (Calgary AB) lit the scoresheet with a hat trick against Yorkton last Tuesday as the Broncos fell in overtime.  He added a goal and an assists on the weekend in Estevan as Humboldt came away with a win.  Franczak, who played Midget AAA in Calgary last year, has received all of his production in the last week and has played 7-games overall this season.  Runner-up:  Aiden Bulych, Yorkton.
