SGEU MVP of the Week/SuperU Defenceman of the Week: Connor Thue, Humboldt Broncos

Connor Thue of the Humboldt Broncos continues to rack up weekly awards early on this season in the SJHL. It was a big week for the Broncos newcomer this past week as he found the back of the net once and added a whopping seven assists in three games played. In just seven games played this year, Thue has 3 goals and 12 assists. He currently sits 2nd among Defenceman in scoring in the league.

Bourgault Forward of the Week: Justin Lies, Flin Flon Bombers

For the 2nd week in a row, Justin Lies of the Flin Flon Bombers has been named Bourgault Forward of the Week. The 20-year-old continues to produce in a big way for the Bombers who swept their four game in five night road trip. Lies found the back of the net twice in the Bombers 5-0 win Wednesday against the Hounds, and then also added four assists throughout the rest of the week. He is currently 4th in SJHL scoring (behind 3 of his teammates) with 8 goals and 8 assists on the year.

DirectWest Rookie of the Week: Kole Keen, Melville Millionaires

The Melville Millionaires continue to impress early on this season and are getting contributions up and down their line-up. This past week Kole Keen had a big week for the Mills who swept their weekend home and home with their Highway 10 rivals, the Yorkton Terriers. However, the production started on Thanksgiving Monday when Keen had a pair of helpers in a loss to Estevan. Keen then followed it up with a goal and an assist Friday in Yorkton.

SaskTel Goalie of the Week: Harmon Laser-Hume/Kenneth Marquart, Flin Flon Bombers

The best two goalies this past week statistically in the SJHL were the tandem for the Flin Flon Bombers, and with nearly identical numbers, it only seemed fair that both Harmon Laser-Hume and Kenneth Marquart were named Co-Winners of Sasktel Goalie of the Week. Both goaltenders let in just one goal in two games, both had a shutout, and both earned two wins as the Bombers swept their four game in five night road trip in southern Saskatchewan.

Saskatchewan Player of the Week: Braxton Buckberger, Nipawin Hawks (from Saskatoon, Sask)

For the 2nd week in a row the Nipawin Hawks earned a split of their home and home, and this past week Braxton Buckberger had a strong pair of games against the Humboldt Broncos. The Saskatoon product registered a pair of assists Friday at home, and then added a goal and an assist Saturday in the Hawks’ 3-2 overtime win in Humboldt Saturday.
