SGEU MVP of the Week: Charlie Tritt, Humboldt Broncos

Tritt had big shoes to fill as the Humboldt Broncos’ No. 1 goaltender heading into this season, with the great Dazza Mitchell having moved on to graduation. Well, if the first week is any indication, consider those shoes filled. Tritt gave up only four goals on 135 shots and registered an incredible two shutouts in his first three games. The Broncos are off to a spotless start, and Tritt has a lot to do with it.
Weekly Stats: 4 starts, 4-0-0-0, .970 SV%, 0.98 GAA, 2 SO

Bourgault Forward of the Week: Jacob Strizzi, Humboldt Broncos

Strizzi finished third in scoring last season, and the two ahead of him graduated, so expectations on the 20-year-old from Vaughan, ON, to produce offensively are high. So far, so good. He scored two hat-tricks in the pre-season and has goals in all but one Bronco game at the time of writing. His one assist came on a lovely feed for Connor Miller’s winner Saturday vs. Melville.
Weekly Stats: 5 GP, 6 G, 1 A, 7 PTS

Koch Defenceman of the Week: Gavin Granger, Battlefords North Stars

Through three games, the North Stars have scored a strong 13 goals (4.3/g), and Granger has been in on over half of them. Last Saturday’s four-point game was a career high, and at a +8 rating already, the veteran blueliner is clearly taking care of business in his own end as well.
Weekly Stats: 3 GP, 2 G, 5 A, 7 PTS

SaskTel Goalie of the Week: Devin Peck, Flin Flon Bombers

The Flin Flon Bombers are already +13 in goal differential, and have only given up seven goals through four games, all on Peck’s watch. His duel with Melfort’s Kason Kobelka Saturday at the Whitney Forum was extraordinary. Peck, out of Colorado, has been everything Coach Mike Reagan would want in the pressure-filled spot of Bombers’ No. 1, and then some, so far.
Weekly Stats: 4 starts, 4-0-0-0, .920 SV%, 1.71 GAA

SaskMilk Rookie of the Week: Kaegan Lowe, Kindersley Klippers

Acquired late in the off-season from Bonnyville in the Alberta league, the Macklin, SK native is off to an electric start in the green and white. He already has two multi-point outings in his first three games as an SJHL regular (he was an AP for a pair for Melfort last year), and is quickly becoming a Klippers’ fan favourite for his speed and skill. Keep an eye on this one throughout the campaign!
Weekly Stats: 3 GP, 3 G, 2 A, 5 PTS

Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Week: Rylan Williams, Estevan Bruins (from Kyle, Sask)

The biggest deal of the off-season featured Williams as the centrepiece coming back to Estevan, in exchange for the CJHL rights to Kent Moors to Battlefords. In many ways, that deal has worked out great for the Bruins thus far, but perhaps no more so than as far as the all-around performance of Williams is concerned. Three multi-point outings out of four so far, paired with Williams’ top-notch leadership, means the Estevan faithful have indeed received what they are looking for from the Kyle, SK native.
Weekly Stats: 4 GP, 2 G, 5 A, 7 PTS
