SGEU MVP of the Week & Bourgault Forward of the Week: Jacob Vockler, Flin Flon Bombers

It was a big weekend for the Flin Flon Bombers. Not only did they sweep their weekend home and home with the La Ronge Ice Wolves, but they found the back of the net 18 times. This included 7 by 20-year-old forward Jacob Vockler. The 3rd year Bombers was held off the scoresheet on opening weekend, but the pride of Sioux Falls, South Dakota bounced back in a big way. He has 3 goals and 2 assists in the Friday night win at home and then followed it up with a 4 goal performance Saturday. Vockler now leads the SJHL in goals with 7.

SuperU Defenceman of the Week: Tyson Perkins, Yorkton Terriers

The Yorkton Terriers split their two games with the Battlefords North Stars this week and put up 14 goals. 20-year-old defenceman Tyson Perkins had a big two nights at Westland Arena, earning five assists, including four Friday night in the Terriers 9-6 loss. Perkins is currently tied for 3rd in the SJHL amongst Defenceman.

DirectWest Rookie of the Week: Ronan Buckberger, Nipawin Hawks

Ronan Buckberger and the Nipawin Hawks picked up their first two wins of the season at home this weekend and the rookie Defenceman played excellent for the Hawks in their pair of games. The Ohio State commit had a goal and three assists, including a three-point night Friday in Nipawin’s 7-1 victory over the Kindersley Klippers.

SaskTel Goalie of the Week: Dazza Mitchell, Weyburn Red Wings

For the 2nd week in a row, Dazza Mitchell has earned Sasktel Goalie of the Week honours. The 19-year-old goaltender from Regina allowed just three goals this weekend against the Estevan Bruins which included a massive 43 save performance Saturday at Crescent Point Place. Mitchell is 3-0-0-1 to start the season with a 1.18 Goals Against Average and a .964 Save Percentage.

Saskatchewan Player of the Week: Mason Bueckert, La Ronge Ice Wolves (from Saskatoon, Sask)

Despite the two losses to the Flin Flon Bombers, 19-year-old forward Mason Bueckert had a great weekend offensively for the La Ronge Ice Wolves. The pride of Saskatoon tickled the twine four times Friday night at the Whitney Forum and then added three assists on Saturday.
