SaskPower Rankings: Week 22 – Mar. 3, 2026

SJHL Power Rankings – Week 22 (Mar. 3, 2026)

1. Yorkton Terriers (Last week 2)

The Terriers take their first shift all year atop the power rankings after a thunderous weekend in which they outscored the opposition 18-3. They have won five in a row, nine of their last 10, and have absolutely been the best team in the league lately. A win on Wednesday vs. Weyburn would seal their first Bunge/South Division Title since 2019-20, and they’re all over the weekly and monthly awards. Times are good in Yorkton, and even a first-place finish in the league is not out of the question (though they’d need some serious help from Flin Flon).

2. Flin Flon Bombers (Last week 1)

Speaking of the Bombers, their bid for a perfect season at home is over after an overtime loss to Melfort at the Whitney Forum this past weekend. That said, they still have not been beaten in regulation at home, as they fell to 23-0-1 east of the border. Their coach/GM, Mike Reagan, is not big on excuses, but their injury woes are getting very serious, and with all the weapons at their disposal, they are still a different team with/without Landon Alexander. They still hold their destiny as regular season champs in their hands, and took back the UPL Division Title with the point they earned over the weekend.

3. Melfort Mustangs (Last week 6)

The Mustangs are all the way back, folks, and if you haven’t noticed, you’re under a rock. They have won 11 in a row and just pulled off a signature week, downing Weyburn and Flin Flon twice, two top-five teams in the league. It would take some doing for them to finish anywhere but sixth, with six points between them and No. 5 Weyburn at the time of writing, but who knows? Bo Eisner has been unstoppable beside Danton Cox on the back end, and Kason Kobelka continues his brilliant rookie campaign in net. Does this team have enough goals to go all the way? We’ll find out, but nobody wants them in the playoffs, Round 1.

4. Weyburn Red Wings (Last week 4)

Weyburn scuttled a bit in February, but their run to the final last year had its ups and downs, too, so this core understands how to turn it on at the right time. Cody Mapes’ men had some time to rest between games, too, which is terrific timing, given that they have their share of injury problems as well. Next up, as a pair with Yorkton, that will be must-see TV, and critical if Weyburn is going to have home-ice advantage in Round 1.

5. Battlefords North Stars (Last week 5)

The SaskTel Game on Monday-Friday in Humboldt yielded a terrific game, though one that, in terms of result and performance, must have left a bad taste in the North Stars’ mouths. They bounced back the next night with a win over the same Broncos, and managed to do it without captain and star Anthony Campbell, who is suspended. They will have to make do without him for both games in Flin Flon this weekend, too, though the culture Coach Connor Logan and company have set in the room appears to mean this team will compete no matter who they are facing. Whether they get something from the weekend at the Whitney or not, they are still in great shape to have home-ice advantage in Round 1.

6. Nipawin Hawks (Last week 3)

The Hawks battled hard Tuesday in Flin Flon but were dealt a heavy lesson this past week, losing both games to the Bombers and the Yorkton Terriers. Nipawin has clearly been a better team at home than on the road this year, and while they certainly have the talent and pedigree to win on the road, holding on to Round 1 home-ice advantage is as imperative to the Hawks as anybody. Still plenty of good news: this team is healthy, and just had monster productive months from a wide range of players, not the least being February’s league MVP, Mason Karakochuk. No need to panic in Nipawin, of course, but last week can’t be a trend.

7. Estevan Bruins (Last week 7)

Drew Kocur’s men picked a perfect time to have a great week, and they did just that with important victories over Battlefords and Melville. Nathan Kam was marvellous in net both nights and got plenty of depth scoring behind Ewan Rennie and Rylan Williams, who will need to be regularly relied on moving forward. They have to be feeling good at Affinity Place right now, and their destiny is in their hands with two straight against a Melville team one point behind them in the standings. Sixth place isn’t out of the question, especially with a match, though it’s so important for this team to finish at least seventh, as the travel to and from Flin Flon for Round 1 would be as tough physically as it is fiscally. Either way, they’re in good shape right now.

8. Melville Millionaires (Last week 7)

Melville’s wildly up-and-down season continues, and Saturday’s loss to the Bruins must have left coach Doug Johnson shaking his head. The good news is that the Mils have the most games in hand in the league, with six remaining, and could still finish as high as fifth or as low as 10th. The answer is probably in between, but where? Would the real Melville Millionaires please stand up?

9. Humboldt Broncos (Last week 9)

Humboldt’s trend of being good at home and struggling on the road continues (they have a .278 higher points percentage at the EPA than elsewhere). Still, a win at Friday’s SaskTel Game of the Month vs. Battlefords was critical, and Brady Holtvogt continues to be a league superstar in net. Their strength of schedule the rest of the way is the most manageable in the SJHL, but none of that matters if they can’t beat whoever is in front of them, and it won’t come easy, given the parity in the league, and that four of their final five contests are on the road.

10. Kindersley Klippers (Last week 10)

Saturday’s game in Warman was as must-win as any in the league so far, and they got the job done. Still, they have left it late and need help, with only three games left, and plenty of action around them in the standings. They got a big week from Rylan Wieler, who has quietly had a terrific campaign, and will need all hands on deck the rest of the way with a must-win game against Humboldt and a pair against Battlefords.

11. Warman Wolverines (Last week 11)

The Wolverines will have to do without the captain and the club’s first legend, Vinny Palmarin, for the rest of the way after his scary incident against the Klippers. When he left last year, that’s when things totally fell apart for Notre Dame. The stakes are much lower now, though, and the mature and maturing Pherson Loehndorf will have to carry an even bigger load to guide this young group on the back end. There have been plenty of feel-good stories from young players on this team; however, the future looks bright, especially after Friday’s terrific performance in Kindersley.

12. La Ronge Ice Wolves (Last week 12)

Interim Coach Bob Beatty did a terrific job guiding this team through a four-game-in-five-nights southern swing to end February, one that included a shootout win in Melville and an overtime defeat in Yorkton. Daiton Tailfeathers, Grayden Perozni, Graham Brown, and the few veterans still around deserve a ton of credit for keeping this train mostly on the tracks, and if they can keep it all together, look out for the Wolves in 2026-27!
