SCOREBOARD SATURDAY

The Estevan Bruins ended the Flin Flon Bombers’ winning streak at six games, while helping their own cause in a big way in the playoff race, beating the visiting Bombers 6-2 on Saturday.

The Bruins (24-21-3-1) have won three straight, including two home wins over the second and third place teams in the league, in Nipawin and now Flin Flon, keeping them breathing room between themselves and night place Kindersley.

Griffin Asham-Moroz and Jayden Davis scored twice each, while Tanner Manz (1g-1a) and Erik Boers added singles, and Keenan Rancier stopped 38 of the 40 shots he faced.

Caleb Franklin and Tristan Lemyre did the scoring for the Bombers (33-11-5-0).

The Kindersley Klippers were hoping for some help out of Nipawin and Flin Flon in those Estevan games, but they remain five points back of that playoff spot, even after a big 3-2 overtime win over Melfort on Saturday.

Brett Neumeier scored the winner just over a minute into the extra frame, while Steven Avalone (1g-1a) and Ethan Mack added the others.  Steven Bacovsky made 30/32 saves for the Klippers (20-23-6-1).

Seth McCulloch (1g-1a) and Nolan Kadachuk picked up the goals for the Mustangs (24-16-6-3).  Melfort’s now winless in four (0-1-3) and their single point has them into a tie for fifth overall with La Ronge, both with nine games remaining.
