It’s been a pretty special start to the season for Battlefords North Stars forward Jake Southgate.

It all started in the off-season when the 20-year-old was named Captain of his hometown team by Head Coach and General Manager Brayden Klimosko.

His play on the ice this year has also been nothing short of spectacular.

As of November 23rd, Southgate has 9 goals and 27 assists in 23 games this season, which is tied for 2nd in SJHL scoring. Southgate and his line-mates are currently leading the entire league in scoring. Southgate is also 10 points away from hitting 100 in his SJHL career.

To cap it all off, the Battleford product has led his hometown team to a remarkable start this season, sitting with a 20-0-2-1 record, and are the #1 ranked team in the entire CJHL as of the end of November.
